Today marks the 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, when the Polish Home Army rose against Nazi German occupation in an attempt to liberate Warsaw. Every year at exactly 17:00—the “W Hour”—sirens sound across Poland, traffic stops, and people observe a minute of silence in remembrance.
